What to see at Kidwelly Tinplate Works

Kidwelly Tinplate Works is open for guided tours and special event days. Check out our What's On page for our next scheduled events. We're aiming to host a regular series of events throughout 2027 onsite.

We're at the beginning of a long-term project to reimagine the site as a modern, sustainable museum and a place for learning and employment opportunities for young people. We'll be consulting with the community every step of the way to explore and share ideas for the future of the site. There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved and volunteer along the way too.

In the meantime, this page is a guide to what you'll see onsite if you join one of our tours, or visit on one of our event days.

Filming and Photography

Filming

We welcome interest in using Kidwelly Tinplate Works as a location for commercial filming productions. The 13-acre site hosts a diverse range of landscapes, from large industrial warehouses filled with 19th Century machinery and engines, to rural woodland and the Afon Gwendraeth Fach. There's also an 18th Century dam and pond connected to the remains of the first tinplate works, which encompass stone pathways, tunnels, trenches and more.

The site would be perfect for period productions from the 18th Century onwards; science fiction; crime or mystery; and much more besides.

For interested commercial productions, please seek initial permission to film from Carmarthenshire County Council Marketing and Media team by filling in this form. Then please let us know at cofgar@carmarthenshire.gov.uk if you have submitted a filming request form.

All commercial filming would be subject to a charge to be agreed with the CofGâr team. However, all money raised would be reinvested in supporting the reimagination of the site, so you would be contributing to the development of a vital community resource.
