Dylan Thomas Parlour

After passing through the Gift Shop, you’ll enter into Dylan’s world in Y Parlwr (the Parlour).

The room is furnished to reflect how it may have looked in the 1950s when Dylan and his family lived here. Many of the objects belonged to the wider Thomas family, such as the photos on the walls and the comfortable chairs. Feel free to sit and read one of the books on the shelves in the corner.

A sturdy writing desk fills the space below the window overlooking the terrace. It was used by Dylan’s father, before his mother brought it to the Boathouse when she moved in after Dylan’s death. Now, you’re invited to leave your thoughts about Dylan and the Boathouse here before you leave.

Dylan himself probably never used this room to write. He preferred the peace and quiet of his Writing Shed. Instead, Caitlin played here with their three children - Llewelyn, Aeronwy, and Colm.
