Group Visits at the Dylan Thomas Boathouse

Two visitors pose for a photograph at an outdoor celebration beside a waterfront setting. Both wear white floral buttonhole corsages pinned to their clothing.

We welcome groups of all sizes to the Boathouse to be inspired by the life and works of Dylan Thomas and the beauty of Laugharne and the Taf estuary.

If you're planning to visit us as part of a group of 10 or more people, please book in with us at least seven days in advance. This helps us to ensure that you can get the most out of your visit.

You're welcome to book by giving us a call during ordinary opening hours on 01267 224696 or email cofgar@carmarthenshire.gov.uk.

If anyone in your group has accessibility needs, please see our Accessibility page.

Getting here

Parking

Coaches

Coach parking is available at the Green Banks Car Park down the hill from Laugharne Castle.

Alternatively, you're welcome to use the car parks at nearby Pendine, just a 10 minute drive west along the A4066.

Our Multi-Site Tickets offer you an unlimited number of visits to both the Dylan Thomas Boathouse and our sister site at the Museum of Land Speed in Pendine for 7 days from the day of purchase.

The two sites are situated just a few miles apart along the wondrous Wales Coastal Path. One multi-site ticket is equal to less than the price of individual day tickets to both sites. See our Visit page for more information.

Public Transport

Buses run four times a day from Carmarthen through Laugharne and a train station at Whitland receives regular services from Carmarthen and Tenby.

Guided Tours

Writing Shed Tours

We're pleased to offer guided tours of Dylan's Writing Shed and the Boathouse for group visitors lasting up to an hour from one of our knowledgeable staff members. The tour will introduce you to the story of Dylan's time at the Boathouse and what life was like there for his family.

If you would like to book a tour for your group, we charge £5 per person, with payment accepted in advance or on the day.

We recommend a maximum of 10 people per tour to ensure the best experience for your group. For larger groups, we recommend splitting the group so that some join a tour, while others relax in Y Gegin Gartref. The groups can then swap around after each tour.
